About Us

Established in 1975

AGW was established in 1975 by Tony Godwin and George Wainwright. Both had a background in electronics engineering and manufacturing, specifically the design and manufacture of wound components.

Who we supplied to

We quickly grew to become industry leaders for producing wound components and electrical assemblies, supplying to the telecommunications and defence markets. As the market diversified, so did we and we now supply components to the power control, industrial drive and automotive markets, including bubble tubes and fibre optic lit carpets. AGW also provide a service which allows customers to benefit from offshore manufacturing costs for higher volume products, without losing local service, having formed alliances with well respected and qualified offshore coil manufacturers,

Previous products

As well as producing wound components and electrical assemblies we also produced model railway controllers and accessories, which we still have a great reputation for. As we became more established we began to produce more specialised components, manufacturing electronic sensory products for a local customer.

Relocation to New Factory

In 1997, due to our expansion, we had a custom made factory built on a newly established industrial estate in Staveley. Further expansions of around 7,000 sq. ft. in 2007 and 3,000 sq.ft. in 2018, means our present facility is 30,000 sq.ft.. The original built was over two stories, but the further expansions are single storey high level. These allow for more efficient warehousing facilities and gives the storage space for UK made, off-shore & large scale products.

AGW 2023

In 2023 AGW went through an exciting transition, being acquired by the ETAL Group. The group are an influential and forward-thinking conglomerate and subsidiary of the Kamic Group. This strategic acquistion marked a significant milestone for both AGW and the Etal group as we joined forces to leverage our respective strengths and create a new era of innovation in the electronics sector.
The union between our two entities has also opened up exciting possibilities for groundbreaking product development, improved customer experiences, and a strengthened market presence, we look forward to the next chapter.
